Artist Spotlight: Kevin Presbrey
Kevin Presbrey has a long history with music in Chicago. Born and raised in Aurora, IL. just one hour south of Chicago, his mother is a teacher and his father was a prominent worker’s comp lawyer. Kevin quickly learned guitar at a young age by listening to Led Zeppelin songs.
After his father’s death in 2012 from a tragic plane crash in Florida, Kevin set out on a quest to build his solo music career. Kevin’s original band, Painkiller Hotel broke up in 2010 after touring the states with bands like Train, Blues Traveler and Sister Hazel. Since then, Kevin’s solo career has taken off and he’s released two albums that beautifully capture the sometimes difficult valleys of life.
Dust Unto Dust was released in 2013 and was recorded in Seattle, WA. at Bear Creek Studios. He collaborated with producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Milo Greene, Rocky Votolato) and the result is a warm, deep album with timeless qualities. “Good Man” is a homage to his father and when he performs the song live, the audience is perfectly captured in a touching tribute.
Falling Together was released in 2016. The songs for FT were narrowed down from a long list of songs that Kevin was writing since the release of Dust Unto Dust. After working with Gigable on several live shows and being featured in their app, Mike Echlin (Co-Founder, Gigable) connected Kevin with producer Skylar Wilson (Justin Townes Earle, Rayland Baxter, Caitlin Rose). Backed by Gigable, Kevin worked with Skylar in his East Nashville studio to record the tracks that would become Falling Together.
In addition to his songwriting career, Kevin launched AllForUke.com in 2018. A4U is a site dedicated to learning the ukelele - an instrument that is featured prominently in his music.
